After having finished the recordings the next step is to select the takes that will end up on the actual album. I took a while off from listening to it and started freshly again last week. It’s funny how differently you hear things after not having heard it for a while. After a few days of intensive listening, lots of notes and lots of coffee, I finally selected the best takes for the album. So now we are ready for mixing. Next week I will spend a day in the studio in Amsterdam with Chris Weeda, a fantastic engineer and a sound genius. He recorded and mixed tons of records and is Toots Thielemans’ live sound engineer. Can’t wait to hear what Chris will do with this recording. I will definitely keep you guys posted!

The recordings for the new album went very well! We had a wonderful and relaxed time at the luxurious studio in Germany and recorded nine tracks in two days. Right now I’m in the process of listening to different takes and deciding which takes will eventually end up on the album. Next month we will be mixing the tracks. This is all very exciting, because this album is the first album I’m releasing independently. Oh.. and the first album release concert is booked already… Grab pen and paper (or your smartphone): May 10th, 2012. BIMHUIS!!!
I’m proud to announce that on August 14th and 15th I will be recording my new album, which is due for release in May 2012! I’m really excited about this recording which I’m doing with my steady group consisting of my friends and colleagues Yaniv Nachum (sax), Randal Corsen (piano), Stefan Lievestro (double bass) and Mark Schilders (drums). We are recording this album in the Fattoria Musica Recording Studios in Osnabruck, Germany. We are also working on a new website on which I will keep you informed regularly about the new album and give you detailed updates about the recording, mixing and mastering process! So be sure to check this website regularly and sign up to my newsletter.
