Bio

Marzio Scholten (1982, Granollers, Spain) is regarded as one of the most talented and promising modern jazz guitarists and composers in the Netherlands.

In 2006 he graduated from the world renowned Conservatory of Amsterdam. 'Motherland', his critically acclaimed cd and debut as a leader was released in June of 2008. With this cd Marzio has proven to already be one of Europe's leading jazz guitarists. In 2009 he was nominated for the prestigious Deloitte Jazz Award. His second album 'World Of Thought' (2010) received stunning reviews worldwide. The leading American e-magazine All About Jazz published a praising review and selected 'World Of Thought' as one of the best releases of 2010.

Marzio has played his music on many stages and festivals in the Netherlands and abroad. Some examples: North Sea Jazz Festival, Bimhuis, Vredenburg, Royal Theatre Carré and The Hague Jazz. His international tours have led him to the U.S., Mexico, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Kosovo and Spain.
